All of last year Bridgestone got plenty of stick for its tyres being beaten hollow. Michelin runners ran rings around it (and Ferrari). Ferrari did not have a great car either – but the bad tyre compounded(!) problems.
Ferrari’s run at Bahrain, and Williams run(Rosberg Jr scored the fastest lap) proves that Bridgestone have improved a LOT over the winter – even given Ferrari’s Bahrain testing as advantage.
All through last year, Bridgestones just would not perform on tracks when the temperatures were high – Bahrain has shown that it has a reasonable spec tyre for hot weather now. Contrarily, it blew the Michelin runners in cool temperatures. Ironically a quesiton to Michael at the Post race PC in Bahrain was :
“Michael how will the tyres perform in cooler climes?” !!(paraphrasing)
